Monday Moments

Monday and I'm posting Monday moments? What? Ha ha it took me a bit to get back into the routine, but I did it!

Pretty sure that this was the Tuesday after we got back from Florida. The Captain said something about getting me a t-shirt that said "Whatever, I'm getting cheese fries" the day before and I could not get them out of my head. Let's be honest, cheese fries are about the best thing ever.

Charissa's hair is getting long enough that I can start braiding it again. Is it weird that I sometimes miss braiding? I like to try different braids out. That's got to be like the weirdest interests ever, but it's true. If you've got long hair, I will seriously braid it for you.

This is from the last twilight concert series. Good times guys, we finally got a couch for the whole show, and it was grand. Also the tacos were amazing. And messy.

Friday was spent with my mom's soul sister. And by soul sister, I mean her cousin that she briefly lived with when they were children. For blogging purposes we will refer to her as Glinda (the good witch). Glinda teaches my mom how to be a princess, excuse me Queen, while still being benevolent and telling great stories about the time my mother bit her on the back because Glinda refused to give up the side of the bed that my mother wanted.
We also obviously went to the Pi. This buffalo chicken pizza was the greatest! So good!

The blonde joke will not be divided even by thousands of miles! FaceTime is a grand thing that can embarrass even the best of friends from great distances.

And finally, I am back at work, so be prepared to enjoy more pictures taken while walking to and from it :)

In case you were wondering, the next installment of our love story will be up on the blog tomorrow (I will hold myself to that. Swear I'm going to write it right now)
If you missed the first part, you can catch up here
And if you missed the part about where we got engaged, you can catch it here :)

It All Started with a Snap: A love story intro :)

Mostly this week I kind of forgot that I was human being, let alone a blogger. Like for real. Usually when Monday rolls around I think about posting even if I don't actually end up getting up that day, but this week I didn't even realize that it was Monday until it was already Tuesday and then somehow I ended up here on Friday... Yeah, I have no idea how that happened.
Partially I think it's because last Monday I was in Florida and apparently I forgot what days felt like in Utah since then. My whole routine has been weird since then (Like on Monday I went running, which meant that Tuesday I didn't, which I normally do... it's all weird), add on to the fact that everyone keeps asking me wedding questions. Like where will we live? What food do I want at the reception? Center pieces?
It's like I'm the only girl who ever lived who didn't plan out my wedding before I got engaged. But since we're getting married in November (I forgot to tell you all that didn't I? 68 days by the way) these are decisions that I have to figure out. Oh and did I mention that my older sister is getting married 13 days before me?
Yeah, it's been crazy times over here.
But that's not what you came here for ;)

So, in case you were all wondering, you are going to get our love story! I know you always wanted to know how this all happened.

So once upon a time, just about 9 years ago I decided to go to EFY for my Second year. Why are we going back 9 years? You shall see!
I decided to go by myself, mostly because I didn't have anyone else to go with me (if you don't know what EFY is, basically it's an awesome youth program where you go be Spiritual and meet a lot of cool friends). I think of myself as being pretty shy, but when I'm in a situation like that I tell myself to pretend I'm a social butterfly. So that's what I did. And who should be in my Company (made up of two groups of girls with about 10 girls a piece and one boys group with about the same) but the Captain.
I don't honestly remember when I first met him, but I do remember that I met our company and immediately determined that I was the second prettiest girl in our company (I was kind of really confident and vain...) and that there were a few boys that I thought were pretty good looking.
The Captain was not one of them.
Back in those times I wasn't quite as tall as I am now, but I was still at least 5' 7" and I had a rule that I didn't date boys that were shorter than me (I really had no rules at this point. We met about a week after I turned 16. But on every list that I had made on what I wanted in a future husband, or boyfriend for that matter, listed Tall as one of the first things).
My first memory of him was when we were sitting together before a devotional and the Captain informed me that he didn't know how to snap.  Don't ask me why, but snapping is one of my favorite things to do. So sitting right there, on blue hard plastic chairs, I taught the Captain to snap. And that was the start of our friendship.

This actually is from the Easter before we met, so just a few months, but this is about what I looked like when we met :)

Monday Moments

So in case you didn't know, shortly after the Captain and I got engaged, he left me for a week at his parents house while they all went on a cruise.

We actually deemed it quite fitting because just after we started officially dating he went and hung out with some other friends without me that night...

So naturally while they were gone I spent most of the day in the pool reading. And eating ice cream. It was really torturous ;)

I also made it out to the Orlando Temple while I was there. It was totally worth the drive, the extra space in my suitcase, and almost not making it home.

How might that happen you ask? Well, since I literally know how to get nowhere in Florida, I was entirely dependent on my GPS to find my way around. I made it to the temple ok, but afterward I wanted to fill up on gas before I headed back to the empty house that I was watching.
I found a gas station on my GPS and started heading over there.
Then my screen started to get darker for no apparent reason.
And darker, and darker.
Until I got a warning that my phone was too hot and was going to turn off until it cooled down.
Which would be fine if I was doing pretty much anything other than driving and had no idea where I was.
I quickly pulled my phone off the mount and drove in a random direction while holding my phone to the AC and praying that it would cool off so that I could find my way home.
Luckily it did and I ended up right next to a gas station.
I really don't know how people got around (especially in foreign places) before smart phones and GPS.

Because when you can't take pictures of your own puppy and cuddle with her, you take pictures of your FiancĂ©'s dog.

I was looking at wedding bands on pinterest and this was the first thing that came up for Rapunzel wedding band... Look familiar?

On this day it rained the whole day. So Charissa and I facetimed for literally at least 8 hours and watched Twilight "together"

These were the Sunsets literally every night. It was unreal. Also 2 gators live in that pond behind the Captain's parent's house. Just in case you were wondering.

At my house we all have our favorite Disney princesses. My big sister's is Jasmine, my little sister's is Ariel. And lately I keep getting Ariel as which princess I am most like on the quizzes, not sure what that's about...

Jack needs a lot of love when you come home. Also if you want to know the value of a good filter, that first picture is at the beach and the one with me holding Jack I took as soon as I got home about an hour later.

These are the ways that I entertain myself when the Captain finally comes home and then proceeds to sleep for a few hours.

After much debate the truth comes out. A 3/4 cup TOTALLY exists! I have never seen one before but the Captain grew up with them.

Sunrise yesterday morning. Even if we did have to get up at 4 AM UT time to do it, it was totally worth it.

What adventures did you have this week? Have YOU ever seen a 3/4 cup before?

Engaged!

So I'm engaged! :) And I'm super excited about it when I'm not thinking about how to plan a wedding. I'm pretty sure that I'm the only girl on the planet that hasn't spent her life planning out her wedding.

The boy did good on the ring if you ask me :)

So before he actually proposed The Captain gave me tickets to Disneyworld for my birthday, so I knew that we were going, it wasn't until we'd been in Florida a few days that I realized his whole family would be joining us though. I didn't think anything of it, they live out here and go a lot :)

We'd already gone on one ride while waiting for part of the family to get into the park and then we got our fast passes. We couldn't use the first one for about an hour, so his sister suggested we go check out the tangled toilets. Tangled is neck and neck for my favorite disney princess movie with Beauty and the Beast, so I was excited to go check them out.

I was a little disappointed that there weren't frying pans in the women's toilets (toilets part of my engagement story? who knew right?), I didn't actually have to go, so I admired the flowers painted on the walls and then left. I found the Captain and we went to look at the tower.

He told me that he needed some medicine (he broke his back and neck a few years back, pain medication is normal part of his life) and so he was digging around in his bag looking for it. I was looking at the tower and realized it would be much more considerate if I offered him some water or gatorade. I offered both and he said he didn't want either.

He stood there with his arm halfway into his bag looking around and I had the passing thought that this is what he might do to stall if he had a ring in his bag, but really thought nothing of it because he told me he wasn't going to even start thinking about proposing until after he got back from this trip.

The next thing I know the Captain is down on one knee offering this beautiful ring to me and asking me to marry him.

I remember saying "Seriously?" probably 3 times and yes. I'm also pretty sure that I was reaching for that ring before he finished asking the question and definitely before I had answered his question.

This lovely photographer took pictures of us (none of the ones on here). She had taken a picture of us together before we got engaged and apparently they don't even usually have photographers in this area :) She kindly gave us a card so that we could access our photos. Then she later told us to stay there and went to get us just engaged pins and a certificate for a free 5x7 of whichever picture we wanted.

His little sister and Mom, who apparently he tried to signal that he was about to propose (the plan was to propose at twilight and he ended up doing it in the morning), and they ended up missing the whole thing. So we reenacted it about 5 times for them :)

In about... February (don't judge me) I wrote out a list of things that the Captain might want to know so that he could propose. One of the things on the list was make sure that if you can, make sure my nails are done. His mom and little sister and I all got Mani/pedi's the day before. I thought it was just a birthday gift, I had never had either before. It all clicked into the place later ;)

In case you were wondering what else was on the list:

The easy guide to proposing to me.
1. Do not propose on Temple Grounds. Especially the Salt Lake Temple grounds
2. Nothing cliche. If you've heard a story about someone doing it that way, then probably I wouldn't like it.
3. Inside jokes are welcome
4. I have no idea what kind of ring I want. I go back and forth all the time. Pretty. Yes.
5. You should probably at least to talk to my little sister before you propose. She'll probably be ticked if she finds out after I do.
6. And probably my mom.
7. I wouldn't be opposed if you asked my dad for permission
8. Surprise me. I do not want to know it's coming.
9. If you think I might say no, then I probably will.
10. If you can get it on camera, do (pictures, probably no video)
11. If you can covertly make sure my nails look pretty and that I look pretty while still surprising me, do.
12. Getting down on one knee is a must.
13. No birthdays, or holidays.
14. Probably never propose in front of a crowd of people (what if I said no? I probably would say yes just to not embarrass you, then not only are you left wondering if it's a real yes, but if I have to retract that later in private, then it's going to be sad all around)
15. I believe in short engagements, which means that unless we can get married soon after getting engaged, you may just want to wait.

I gave the Captain this list way back then and he did great. He stalked my pinterest for what kind of ring I wanted. He told me to dress nicer because his family takes a lot of photos when they go to Disney (a lie that I totally bought, although I wouldn't have worn that if I knew what was going to happen, I wore that because I thought it would be most comfortable, not because I thought it was the cutest. Also his sister offered me hair product that morning, which I declined because I didn't really care that much. I thought we were just going to be in a park all day. I ended up just throwing it in a ponytail about 10 minutes after we got into the park. I am grateful that I fixed that ponytail right before he proposed though.)

He talked to everyone I suggested :) And if you couldn't tell by the pictures that his dad took, no crowd gathered. I don't think a single person walking by even paid attention.

I am so excited and so happy. Thanks for reading and thanks for all the love and support :)

What do you think of my rules? :) How did you get engaged? What would be on your "Easy guide to proposing"?

Monday Moments

If you don't follow me on instagram or Facebook then you probably don't know, but I got engaged last Thursday! I know you're all dying to hear the story, but I think I'll put that off for another day or so. That way the post can be all about the engagement rather than being thrown in all willy nilly with random moments from the week :) Also, for a large portion of this trip I haven't taken my phone with me or any cameras so you might actually get some photos from last week, next week when I get photos from everyone else :)

This was me trying to pack everything for 2 weeks into a my normal duffle bag... yeah, it didn't fit.

My hair got nice and curly after we went to the beach :) I kind of liked it, I won't lie. Its only taken 25 years for me to be ok with curly hair ha ha

There is wildlife EVERYWHERE here. I swear.

We went looking for alligators in the local wetlands, but instead we only found beautiful views and the gators grunting at each other all around us, but never coming out :)

Florida has been great :) I've been much more impressed than the last time that I was here on what I refer to as the Farewell tour (my last vacation with my family before my parents got divorced). It's not as hot as it seemed to be last time, I feel like I can still breathe this time.

Anyway, thanks for reading! If you've ever been to Florida, what is your favorite part? Or where have you travelled this summer?
