Writing Journal #39

You asked me a question. I was all in.
I was gone, until you asked, and then it was like the shot of a gun,
a through and through
and I was running. I was winning the race!
Then I threw down my marbles and my jacks behind me. My excuses and questions,
because it's safe to be swimming when there are no sharks in the water.

But you caught me
in my mad dash.
So lightly that I didn't feel your hands on my waist.
My legs were still moving when my body was being drawn back by you.

it wasn't until we were running off the cliff
until the water was slicing past me
until I hit the waves
until the water was sliding down into my lungs

Until I was screaming for air.

And then you kissed me.

And I was breathing again. I was breathing like I've never breathed.
This was living.

Thanks for reading! I hope to be more consistent about these things. Let me know what you think and any questions you have in the comments below! :)
