Monday Moments

Hey! How was everyone's week? Things are going pretty well here. I can't believe how close we are to the end of summer already! It has gone by so quickly!

This is from date night last week :) We went to Zupas and then read through all of the cards we got for our wedding. We loved reading everyone's sweet wishes for us and our marriage. We are loving it still!

I made copycat Rumbi Rice bowls for dinner on Saturday. They actually turned out really well! I was pretty pleased with them, and I'm sure that I'll be making them again soon!

I've learned (again) this last week or two that I don't function very well without lists. I'm the queen of making goals every week, but unless I make a list every day with those goals in mind, they don't actually happen.

However, since I started making lists, I've been getting everything I wanted to done every day. Plus, for me, it's very satisfying to be able to cross something off a list. Also, I love that I have a kind of record of what I've accomplished that day. I know that I've been doing things all summer, but when people ask me how I fill my days, I haven't really had an answer. Now that I've been listing, I can more easily remember what I've been doing and I know that I haven't just been wasting my time.

Currently Read/Reading:

Chronicles of Narnia
By C.S. Lewis

Uglies
By Scott Westerfield

Me Before You
By Jojo Moyes

By the way, I just finished reading Me Before You. It completely sucked me in, but I would't recommend it. It had more F words than any book I've ever finished and it alludes to sex. Just a heads up!

How was your week? What have you been up to? How do you achieve your goals?

The Day the Sky Touched the Earth | A Poem

The sky was missing the hill
Pulling her close to drop sunlight on the wildflowers
Reaching down and dripping light onto her brown skin
Pulling so tight that sky and sand were skin to skin
And we were there to see it
To see the flowers rival the sun
And the shadows skim lightly away from the leaves
Because the sky touched the earth that day
And we will remember that we saw it.

Monday Moments

Hey, everyone! I hope that you all had a great week! My first week as a 26-year-old went by so fast!

My hubby made me french toast for breakfast on my birthday.

And got me this necklace with the coordinates of where he proposed to me.

I spent most of the morning making crepes for a crepe cake (it has been on my cooking bucket list forever, and I figured that it was about time that I check it off).

Then selfie time of my birthday outfit :)

We took the classic Zoo picture by the gorillas. It's basically a requirement if you're in my family and you go to the zoo.

This guy was showing off the entire time we were there. I'm not complaining :)

And of course we had to see the crocodiles for the Captain (if you didn't know, he's allergic to all things fuzzy and has developed a love for reptiles as a result).

We went to Red Robin for dinner. I am a sucker for anything Buffalo! I was less than impressed with our server. I had to send my food back once because he forgot I wanted buffalo. We did also tell him it was my birthday and he was going to give us a free sundae, which he completely forgot and I didn't feel it necessary to remind him.

The finished product of the crepe cake :) Made with Nutella :)

I already set to work on my goals for being 26. So far I'm a little behind on running and stretching, but other than that I'm on track! (I took this picture like 1 day into being 26).

My latest watercolor attempt.

So, croissants are basically one of my favorite foods and on Friday I got to have warm freshly baked croissants. I've often said that if I could have croissants and fresh fruit for breakfast every day I'd be a very happy girl.
Needless to say, I was pretty happy, even though I was up WAY earlier than normal.

It's My Birthday!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled Monday Moments to bring you this birthday post...

It's my birthday today! Today I turn 26. Which sounds really old. I'm officially an adult now. As in now, I get to be kicked off my parent's insurance. Yay for being an adult!
Also, I'm now closer to 30 than I am to 20, which is also pretty weird.
Anyway, I should have checked how many of my 25-year-old goals I accomplished. But here are my goals for 26!

Also, Photo Cred for these lovely photos goes to my little sister, she was kind enough to pick me up at 8 in the morning and take these pictures and edit them for me. She's pretty fantastic.

At the very least I'm looking forward to the change to tackle some new goals! Thank you to everyone who has wished me a happy birthday!
