The Day the Sky Touched the Earth | A Poem
The sky was missing the hill
Pulling her close to drop sunlight on the wildflowers
Reaching down and dripping light onto her brown skin
Pulling so tight that sky and sand were skin to skin
And we were there to see it
To see the flowers rival the sun
And the shadows skim lightly away from the leaves
Because the sky touched the earth that day
And we will remember that we saw it.
